Haven't been on the web much lately but Tennessee Pass is unfortunately still as dead as ever. There was a local rumor floating around last fall about the BNSF being interested in the line for auto rack service. 2ND part of the rumor stated the tunnels were too low and would have needed to be dug out on the bottom to gain more height.
Only real new thing I've noticed is the crossing at the east end of the Malta yard at CR300 has been paved since last summer. Unfortunately it joins a crossing in Salida and the Minturn yard tracks as well as pretty much every single dirt crossing of the line. Anybody have an accurate tally on other paved crossings?
The weeds are coming in good along the Leadville branch and those crossings are buried pretty good under dirt.
Pando has been cleaned up for a few years now. No more DRGW motorways trailer. Only thing that remains are the stack of rails and a VERY beat up speeder shed. The NFS barricades are still in place from the Camp Hale asbestos clean up.
Haven't been down to see it yet this year but as of last fall the BIG rock slide in Minturn still blocks the line. Speaking of blocked rails the tunnel at the summit stayed icy thru September.
Haven't seen the UP Hyrail guys yet this year however I was shocked to see stored cars down towards Avon last year. Bring 'em up the mountain!
