More on South Yard.
Apparently it was essentially an arrival/departure yard for trains working to/from Antonito and beyond. Trains would be assembled in West Yard and a caboose tacked on, then moved down to South Yard. Road power would be serviced and then run light to South Yard to tie onto their train and head out. Inbound trains would drop their train in South Yard and the power would run light to be serviced and turned. The yard job would then pull the train up into West Yard to be broken down.
